What is CIM?
The Column Integration Module is the central control unit on the steering column of Saab 9-3 II (2003-2011). It manages the ignition, immobilizer, key recognition, remote control receiver, steering column lock, indicator/wiper stalks, cruise control, and optional steering angle sensor.
Why do you need these tools?
CIM failures are common in aging Saab 9-3 vehicles. A faulty CIM means no start, lost keys, or forgotten PIN code. These tools let you read the EEPROM data directly, recover PIN codes, reprogram keys, and transplant a replacement CIM to your vehicle.
How to read the EEPROM?
The CIM uses a 93C66 EEPROM (512 bytes, Microwire protocol, SOIC-8 package). Read it with a TL866II Plus programmer and SOIC-8 clip (in-circuit or desoldered), or use our open-source Microwire emulator/sniffer for advanced diagnostics.
