What is CIM?

The Column Integration Module (CIM) is a central control unit in Saab 9-3 II located on the steering column. It manages the ignition lock, key recognition, indicator stalks, and various vehicle settings.

What can this tool do?

Read PIN code, VIN, programmed keys, ISK, module info, and configuration flags. Detect and repair corrupted EEPROM data using backup blocks or brute-force checksum analysis.

How to read EEPROM?

The CIM uses a 93C66 EEPROM (512 bytes, Microwire interface) in SOIC-8 package. Use a programmer that supports Microwire protocol, such as TL866II Plus, or a dedicated Microwire adapter. Read in 8-bit mode (512 bytes). Read in-circuit with a SOIC-8 clip or desolder the chip. Save the dump as a .bin file.
